App migration refers to transferring your existing mobile app from another app builder to Shopney without the need to launch a brand new app. If your app is already live on the App Store and Google Play, your new Shopney app can be submitted as an update to the current version so that you don’t lose your existing app users.

You also have the option to unpublish your current app and release the new Shopney app as a completely new listing, if you prefer. However, migrating your app has great benefits as opposed to releasing it as new, such as:

• Keep your existing app ranking and visibility

• Retain all reviews and download history

• No need for existing app users to re-download the app

• Seamless transition with zero user disruption

Let’s go through 3 easy steps on what you need for a smooth app migration from your current provider to Shopney, and to ensure a seamless transition!

📌 Important Note

To ensure a smooth migration process, please make sure your app is published under your own Apple-Google developer accounts and that there are no pending agreements or verification steps required in your developer accounts.

1- Inviting Shopney to your developer accounts

To begin the app migration process and allow the Shopney team to submit your app, you’ll need to grant admin access to both your Apple and Google developer accounts. For step-by-step instructions on how to do that, please refer to the article below.

Once admin access is granted from your Apple Developer account, everything will be ready to proceed with the iOS app migration.

2- Providing the required files for Android migration

For the Android app migration, some additional files and information are needed to complete the process. You can request the files below from your previous app builder or developer and share them with us for the Android migration process.

• Keystore File

• Keystore File Password

• Key Alias

• Key Password

Once you have the files, please email them to [email protected] and notify our support team through email or via live chat to initiate the migration process.

📌 Important Note

If your current app is integrated with Facebook Analytics, please complete the setup for this integration in your Shopney dashboard before starting the migration. For Google Analytics and Appsflyer, please wait until the migration process is fully finalized before setting them up in Shopney.

What if the signing key details can’t be provided?

Signing key details are essential for completing the Android app migration process. The easiest and fastest way is to request the keystore files directly from your previous app provider. However, if they’re unable to share them, you can follow the guide below to proceed with a key reset process instead.

Please note that while the key reset process is a valid workaround, it may take considerably longer to complete, especially compared to obtaining the signing key files directly from your previous developer.

3- Ensure your app design and listing info are launch-ready

Once admin access to your Apple and Google developer accounts is granted and the signing key details are shared, the final step is to make sure your Shopney app is ready for launch. For this, you need to ensure the 2 easy steps below are completed:

Designing Your Mobile App with easy drag-and-drop movements, or with Shopney AI in just 1 minute.

Filling Out Your App Listing Form in 1 minute with Shopney AI.

Once these 2 easy steps have been completed as well, all you have to do is contact us for the start of the migration process. And our team will handle the rest for you!

💡 Tip

If you haven’t uninstalled your previous app builder yet, you can use it to send push notifications to users on older versions once the Shopney migration update is live on the app stores. This allows you to encourage them to update to the latest version of your app built with Shopney for the best experience.
