The Test Push Notification feature lets you preview and try out your push notifications before sending them to your customers. It allows you to safely deliver notifications only to test devices registered in the Shopney Preview App, ensuring that you can check both the content and appearance of your notification without impacting actual users.
By using the Test Push Notification feature, you will be able to:
Experience your push notifications from a user’s perspective
Refine your notification’s design
Observe how the notifications are received on different test devices
Send test notifications safely without reaching actual customers
Now, let’s go through how to send the test push notifications, what test devices are, and how to add and delete them from your Shopney Dashboard!
📌 Important Note
Test push notifications are only received on the preview app. If you have not previewed your app yet, please do so by following the guide here.
Step-by-step Guide on How to Send Test Push Notifications
1- Navigate to the Notification Section
Go to the Notification (1) section of your Shopney dashboard, as shown below, then on the welcoming page, click on the Create Notification (2) button.
2- Prepare the Content of Your Test Push Notification
Once you click on the button, you will see the notification dashboard in which you can edit the content of the test push notification. You can see more details about notifications here.
After you are done, in the bottom left corner, you will see a Send Test Notification button above the regular Send Notification button. Click on it.
3- Send the Test Push Notification
Once you click on Send Test Push, a confirmation pop-up will appear, like in the example below, which will also show how many test devices you already have. To proceed, click on Send Test Notification.
📌 Important Note
The Send Test Notification button will only be available if your app is live. If your app is not published yet, any notifications you send will be sent to the preview app like a test push notification.
That’s it! The notification will only be delivered to registered test devices in the Preview App. And it will never be sent to your live app.
📌 Important Note
Test push notifications are sent immediately and cannot be scheduled. They will also not appear in your Sent Notifications tab with previously sent push notifications.
If you have never checked your app on the preview app before, once you click the button, you will instead see the pop-up message seen below:
You will be asked to preview the app first and add a test device. Click on Preview Now and scan the QR code or go to the preview link.
📌 Important Note
Testing push notification sounds is not possible with test push notifications.
