A Back in Stock push notification is a message that alerts customers as soon as a sold-out product becomes available again. It enables you to bring customers back to your store and recover sales by instantly notifying them when a sold-out item is available again.
When an item is sold out, users will see and tap Notify Me instead of Add to Cart. We store the request data on your dashboard as well, so you can track demand, restock wisely, and avoid overstocking.
Once the product is restocked, the interested customer gets the back in stock notification, where you control both the text and timing. With Back in Stock push notifications, you can;
Keep customers engaged and excited about your products.
Recover lost sales by notifying customers when sold-out items are available again.
Build trust by showing shoppers you’ll inform them instead of letting them miss out.
Increase repeat visits to your store or app.
Collect valuable customer interest data to guide future restocking decisions.
Now, let’s go through each step to send Back in Stock push notifications!

4- Track Requests and Send Notifications
To track all your stock requests and send a back in stock notification, go to the Back in Stock segment of your Notifications page(1), switch on the Only Available Stock toggle(2), then click on the Update Stock button to reflect the stock you added for the product on the Shopify side(3) and finally click on Send button(4) as shown below.
📌 Important Note
When the Only Available Stock toggle is switched off, you will see the requests for the products that are still not in stock. It is necessary to switch on this toggle to be able to see the products that are in stock to send a Back in Stock push notification.
After clicking on the Send button, you will be directed to the New Push Notification page, where you’ll edit and finalize the push notification that you already set up on the Notification > Settings page.
After you’re done editing, you can either choose to send it immediately(1) or schedule it for a later time(2). Once all is done, click on Send Notification.
🔔 Reminder
The Back in Stock push notification you send for each product will only be sent to those customers who requested to be alerted for that product’s stock by clicking on the Notify Me button on your live app.
