A privacy policy is a legal document that explains how an app collects, uses, stores, and protects users’ personal data. Creating a privacy policy for your app is not just a good practice; it’s a requirement by both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
App stores require a privacy policy to:
Explain what personal data your app collects
Clarify how this data is used and stored
Comply with legal and platform-specific regulations
Let’s go through the 4 easy steps on how to generate your privacy policy in minutes!
📌 Important Note
Without a valid privacy policy, your app is highly to be rejected. |
How To Generate Your Privacy Policy in Minutes
We recommend using a free and reliable generator like Shopify Privacy Policy Generator. Here’s how to do it:
1- Go to the generator
Navigate to https://www.shopify.com/tools/policy-generator
2- Fill out the form
Fill in the sections with the required information about the company.
Provide your website URL (you can use your Shopify store’s domain) and fill in the checkbox depending on whether you use cookies or not.
3- Generate your policy
After answering all questions, click the Send me my privacy policy button on the bottom right. The tool will generate a personalized privacy policy for you and will send it to your email inbox.
4- Add the Privacy Policy to Your Shopify Store
Once you open the email, click the button inside to access your generated Privacy Policy. When the document opens, copy the entire text.
Next, go to your Shopify store and create a new page. Paste the copied Privacy Policy into this new page, publish it, and ensure that it’s visible on your website.
Placing the Privacy Policy for App Submission
To proceed with the App Submission, you need to fill out your App Listing Form. During this process, you will be required to provide your Privacy Policy link.
Make sure your Privacy Policy is published as a visible page in your Shopify store. This allows you to easily copy and paste the link into the App Listing Form when requested.
📌 Important Note
Your privacy policy must be publicly accessible. Password-protected pages or draft links may be rejected by app stores. |
All done! Now, you have a privacy policy for both your website and mobile app.
