Push notifications are a powerful way to connect directly with your customers through their mobile devices. They let you send personalized, real-time messages that grab attention and drive action, whether it’s promoting a special offer, announcing new arrivals, or reminding users about items left in their cart.

With push notifications, you can:

  • Keep your brand top-of-mind with instant updates

  • Drive repeat visits and boost customer retention

  • Highlight promotions or product launches to increase sales

  • Re-engage inactive users and bring them back to the app

  • Deliver timely, relevant messages that encourage quick action

Let’s go through the steps to send push notifications effectively and make the most of this powerful communication tool!

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Send Push Notifications

1- Go to the Notifications Section

From your Shopney admin panel, click on Notifications(1). Click on the Create Notification(2) button on the welcome page to open the notification dashboard.

2- Get to Know the Notification Dashboard

The dashboard consists of seven main sections:

  1. Generate: Quickly create high-impact push notifications with AI or choose from a template.

  2. Title: Add the headline for your push notification.

  3. Message: Write the main content of your push notification.

  4. Rich Media: Attach eye-catching content such as products, collections, or a custom image.

  5. Sound: Choose the sound for your push notification.

  6. Delivery: Choose to send your notification immediately or schedule it for later.

  7. Display: Preview how your push notification will look before sending.

3- Fill Out Your Notification Details

Add your Title (1), Message (2), and Rich Media (3). As you fill these in, you’ll see the live preview update in the Display (4) section so you can adjust and perfect the look.

4- Send Your Push Notification

Once everything looks good, hit Send to deliver it to your customers instantly, or schedule it for your desired time. You will be asked to confirm before sending, to make sure no accidental notifications go out.


How to Schedule Push Notifications

Scheduled Push Notifications allow you to send messages at a specific time and time zone so your users receive them when they’re most likely to take action.

1- Find the Delivery Section

When creating your notification, navigate to the Delivery section (1) of the New Push Notification page, and choose the Send in a Particular Time option (2).

2- Choose the Date and Time

Set the date, time, and time zone for when you want your notification to be sent.

3- Schedule the Notification

Click the Send Notification button. Your notification will be delivered at the exact date and time you’ve chosen and will appear exactly as shown in the preview.

💡 Tip

Schedule notifications to match your audience’s peak activity hours. For example:

  • Morning for daily deals or product launches

  • Evening for reminders or last-minute offers


How to Use Notification Templates

Notification Templates give you ready-to-use designs and messages so you can create professional, engaging notifications faster.

1- Open the Template Selector

Click the Generate button in the New Push Notification page. A pop-up window will open.

2- Filter by Topic

Use the Filter Keywords (1), Period (2), and Category (3) fields to filter and narrow down template suggestions.

You can filter by specific event terms (e.g., free shipping, Halloween), choose a period (e.g., holiday, seasonal), or select a template category (e.g., BFCM, Christmas, New Launch)

3- Select and Apply a Template

Choose your preferred template (1) and click Done (2).

4- Customize and Send

Once you click on Done and apply the template, you’ll be able to edit the message to fit your brand voice, add Rich Media if desired, and send it immediately or schedule it for later.


How to Use AI-Generated Push Notifications

AI-generated push notifications take the guesswork out of creating engaging messages. Instead of writing everything manually, AI analyzes your preferences and customer data to generate optimized, personalized messages for your audience.

This feature helps you:

  • Save time while still creating impactful messages

  • Personalize content at scale

  • Boost engagement and conversion rates with smarter notifications

This feature is available in Platinum Plan and above.

1- Open the AI Generator

On the New Push Notification page, click Generate. In the pop-up window, select Generate with AI. This button will open up another pop-up window, where you can personalize your notification.

2- Choose Your Campaign Type (1)

Pick the style of notification you want to send:

  • Plain → General announcements

  • Product → Spotlight a specific product

  • Collection → Promote a group of products

3- Add Features & Keywords (2)

Guide the AI by adding keywords or phrases (e.g., Don’t miss!, Exclusive offer). You can also enable emojis to make your notification more eye-catching.

4- Select the Language (3)

Choose from multiple languages to reach your customers in their native tongue.

5- Define the Tone (4)

Decide how your message should sound. Options include:

  • Excited

  • Daring

  • Playful

  • Sophisticated

  • Persuasive

  • Supportive
    (and more)

6- Personalize Your Tone for Different Audiences (5)

Choose the tone of your push notification to make them feel more relevant.

This doesn’t control who receives the notification; it simply adjusts the tone, style, and language of the AI-generated message.

For example:

This feature helps you fine-tune how your message sounds, creating more personalized communication.

💡 Tip

The audience option here personalizes the tone, but your push will still be delivered to all app users.

If you want only certain customers to receive the notification, you’ll need Klaviyo integration. Klaviyo handles segmentation and delivery, while Shopney AI helps you craft the right message.

7- Add Special Instructions (6)

Give the AI extra guidance by specifying the context (e.g., “launching a new summer collection” or “flash sale ending tonight”).

  • Occasions & Events → Sale, New Product, Birthday, Holiday, Anniversary, Black Friday

8- Generate Your Message

Click Generate and review the suggested messages. You can choose from the options provided. If you’re not satisfied, you can click Generate Again to get new options.

9- Finalize and Send

Click Done after choosing a message. Once clicked, you can edit the content, add any Rich Media, set the delivery time, and send or schedule your notification.


How to Use Automated Notifications

Automated notifications save you time by sending messages to your customers automatically based on their actions in the app. You can set up and manage these from the Automated tab in the Notifications section of your Shopney dashboard.

There are currently 2 types of automated notifications available:

  1. Welcome Notification: This notification is sent automatically when a customer downloads your app for the first time. It’s a great way to greet new users and introduce them to your app.

  2. Abandoned Cart Notification: This notification is sent automatically when a customer adds products to their cart but doesn’t complete the purchase. It helps remind users to come back and finish checking out.


What You Can Customize in Automated Notifications

When you switch the toggle on for either type of automated notification, you’ll see 5 customizable parts:

  1. AI Generator: Use AI to create optimized message content with the right tone and style for your audience.

  2. Title: Add a short headline (e.g., Welcome! or Don’t forget your cart!).

  3. Message: Write the main body text (e.g., Thanks for downloading our app. Enjoy exclusive deals inside! or Your items are waiting!).

  4. Rich Media: Attach images or product visuals to make the message more engaging.

  5. Delivery Timing: Choose when the notification will be sent (e.g., 5 minutes later, 15 minutes later, etc.).

🔔 Reminder

You can enable or disable automated notifications by switching the toggle at any time in the Automated tab of the Notifications section. This includes both Welcome Notifications and Abandoned Cart Notifications.
