Tracking your app's performance data is crucial. By analyzing the data you collect, you will learn what works and how to optimize your campaigns and improve your app to achieve better results.

What Is Google Analytics Used For?

Google Analytics is a web analytics service that provides statistics and basic analytical tools for search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing purposes. Its reports help you understand clearly how your users behave, which enables you to make informed decisions regarding app marketing and performance optimizations.

And, the service is part of the Google Marketing Platform and is available for free to anyone with a Google account.

What Can You Track Using Google Analytics?

  • The number of users in your app, their characteristics, and where they come from.

  • Number of your app's install

  • Analyze information about your customers

  • Analyze how users interact with your app

  • Track app's events such as downloads, button presses, ad click and etc...

  • Analyze how many users viewed a certain product and left, how many users have added the product to the cart, how many users have made a purchase by setting up eCommerce tracking.

  • Measure what actions your users are taking.

  • Measure in-app payments and revenue.

  • Customize reports specific to your business.

  • Visualize user navigation paths.

  • Slice and dice your data to understand different user groups' behavior

  • Leverage Google Analytics data in other Google products

How Can You Check Google Analytics?

There are two ways to access Analytics: through a standalone account at http://www.google.com/analytics, or through your linked Google Ads account.

  • You can sign in to your Analytics account from http://www.google.com/analytics. Click Sign in (at top right), and select Analytics. If you are already signed in to Google (e.g. you are signed in to your Gmail account), you'll be taken directly to the Analytics user interface. Otherwise, you will be prompted to enter your Google account (e.g. Gmail account) and password. Once you have signed in to Analytics, you can open the account search at the top of any Analytics page to see the accounts, properties, and views to which you have access.

  • If you've linked Analytics to a Google Ads account, you can access your Analytics views and reports at any time by clicking Tools > Measurement in your Google Ads account. Use the menu on the tab to select Analytics.
