How to add unique tabs per product?

In this article, you will learn about unique (different) tabs and how to set them up for your mobile app.

It is often useful to add more information in your product page, in addition to the product's description. To that extent, Shopney offers a customization option called "PDP tabs" which allows you to put additional information to be displayed either in all product pages or specific products.

In this article, you will learn how to add tabs which will be displayed in specific PDPs in your mobile app. If you want to add per-product information (like specifications, ingredients etc.), unique tabs are the answer to this issue.

Unique tabs allow you to provide product-specific information in product detail pages that are attached to your products using Shopify metafields. We call this type of tabs the Unique Tabs. Let's begin!

There are two ways of adding Unique Tabs to your product detail pages.

1. Dynamic Pages: If your content vary by using page-reference type metafields for each product, you can use this way. This allows you to link to an existing page. You may insert your policy page or a detailed care guide on products in your online store.

2. Custom Content: You may create different tab to displayed in the PDPs by creating the title and content using different Metafield type.


1. How create a unique tab with dynamic page?

1.1. On your Shopney Dashboard > Themes screen, scroll down to the Show Tabs section

1.2. Enable Show Tabs setting and Click on Edit Tabs

1.3. On the opened page click on Add Tabs and choose the content type as Dynamic Page

1.4. Select a Page Reference Metafield from drop down

The page reference metafields listed in the drop down are metafields from your Shopify store. If you don't have a metafield to be listed here, you can check this detailed guide to learn how to create page reference metafields.

1.5. Click 'Done' and then 'Save & Update' buttons

You can add one or more tabs with page reference metafields. If you want to add more, you just need to click on 'Add Tabs' button. Once you complete the metafield selection, click on 'Done' and 'Save & Update' buttons.

1.6. Check the tabs on your mobile app or preview app.

Now, the tabs are ready for you to check on your mobile app after a quick refresh. If your app is not live yet, you can check the tabs on Shopney Preview App as well.

You can see an example below within the designated area. The display of the tab may slightly vary in different themes.



2. How create a unique tab with custom content?

2.1. On your Shopney Dashboard > Themes screen, scroll down to the Show Tabs section

2.2. Enable Show Tabs setting and Click on Edit Tabs

2.3. On the opened page click on Add Tabs and choose the content type Custom Content

2.4. Choose the Title & Content from the drop down
The metafields listed in the drop down are metafields from your Shopify store. If you don't have a metafield to be listed here, you can check this detailed guide to learn how to create page reference metafields.

PS: You can use only the following metafield types as content or title: Date and Time, Date, Dimension, Decimal, Integer, Multi-line text, Single-line text, True or, False, Color, URL, Rich-Text.

1.5. Click 'Done' and then 'Save & Update' buttons

You can add one or more tabs with metafields. If you want to add more, you just need to click on 'Add Tabs' button. Once you complete the title & content selection, click on 'Done' and 'Save & Update' buttons.

1.6. Check the tabs on your mobile app or preview app.

Now, the tabs are ready for you to check on your mobile app after a quick refresh. If your app is not live yet, you can check the tabs on Shopney Preview App as well.
