How to enable pre-order and coming soon on your mobile app?

In this article, you will learn about pre order / coming soon features and how to set them up for your mobile app.

Leveraging future inventory of your store can become a game-changer when you manage and communicate it right. The preorder and coming soon features are created to help you with that.

With pre-order, you can collect orders and generate revenue out of products before they enter your inventory just like products in stock.

When it comes to coming soon, it allows you to showcase your products in your mobile app before they enter your inventory, so you can create anticipation and demand in advance.


By leveraging one or both of them, you can significantly increase the engagement rate and sales on your mobile app. In the following sections, you will learn how to enable them.

  • Available Plans: This feature is available in Gold Plan and above.


Steps to follow to ''pre-order and coming soon'' features

1. Navigate to Shopney Design Dashboard > Customization and 'Enable Pre-Order & Coming Soon' section as shown below then switch it on.

2. Click on the 'Add now' button to select the products to enable the feature(s) for.

3. Then, you will be requested to select the specific feature you want to activate. Here we will first go over 'Pre order' feature.

4. You will need to select the products you want to apply this feature by setting conditions based on 'Product tag, Product type, Vendor or Metafield'. You can set single condition or multiple conditions to create the rule.

5. In the below section, you will need to configure the texts to be displayed to inform customers about the product shipping dates. You can use prefixes, or create dynamic messages. You can also preview your message to make sure it's perfect to go.

Last but not least, you need to select a button text to be displayed on product detail page of the given products as 'Pre order' or 'Add to cart'.

When you are all set, click 'Save'.

6. The 'pre order' settings you created will become an editable item as shown below. You can erase, copy or edit it anytime you want.

Coming soon setup

You can follow the same steps (4,5,6) with Pre order to complete this setup. It will be flowing the same as you can see in the screenshots below.

Once you complete the setup processes, your 'Pre order' and 'Coming soon' setups will be displayed as a list in the window as shown below. You can erase, copy or edit them anytime you want.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It's significant to beware of the difference between pre order and coming soon features.

​1. Pre Order: It displays the estimated delivery time of the selected items in product detail page. The customers can add these products to cart and place an order if they want.

​2. Coming Soon: It displays the date that the selected items will become available at. However, the customers cannot add these products to cart and place an order.
